Lock in the lowest price Windows 7

July 10th, 2009 sibajar 1 comment

Scour the web and drive all over town, or you can visit this site and find the lowest price on the New Window 7 Operating System. The bottom line is this
Until July 11th, 2009 selected merchants are offering pre-order prices on Windows 7 of up to 58% off. My recommendation is Amazon for several reasons.

  1. No sales tax – that’s a 6-8.5% savings right there.
  2. If for any reason the price goes down between the time you pre-order and they actually ship your Windows 7, they will charge you the lowest price guaranteed and automatically. I’ve pre-ordered many items with them before, and they always credit my account to the lowest price.
  3. If you are an Amazon Prime  member, you get free 2-day shipping.

Costco has slashed their price by $5, that means that a $99.99 upgrade costs $95 at Costco.  If you figure in the cost of gas, sales tax and time – I would still order through Amazon, but if you are one of those people who prefer going to a bricks and mortar building – Costco is the choice for you.  Costco Has Discontinued this offer.

If you are not an early adopter and would like to wait a while but still want to save on Windows 7, no worries, buy  Vista.  Microsoft will upgrade you to Windows 7 for $9.99, for more details check out Window 7 Upgrade Offers on Amazon.  Best Buy is offering the same upgrade offer, and I expect most merchants with pre-orders will soon follow suit.

Microsoft Windows 7 special pre-order pricing is over, but it’s still not too late.

Yes, the special pre-order pricing Microsoft made available through Amazon, Best Buy, Office Depot and a few other major retailers ended July 11th.  But there are still ways to get Microsoft software at up to 75% !  Academic Superstore offers special prices for students and teachers.  You may not be in school or a teacher, but if you have school age children K-12, or college students, you may still have access to these special prices.  If you do not have children and are not a student, then your best bet is still Amazon, pre-order today, and you’ll be charged on Oct 22, when the software is released.  If the price goes down anytime between now and then – you’ll get the lowest price.  It works, I pre-ordered the blu-ray or “The Watchmen” about two months ago, and I got it for $4.50 less than it’s list price when I ordered it, and cheaper than it sells for now, because the price dipped sometime between my pre-order and the day it shipped.  So I got the blu-ray for less than the DVD costs today.
